Announcements & Upcoming Events:
The English department will offer ACT preparation sessions before the Feb. 11 ACT, on Monday and Wednesday, Feb. 6 and 8, from 3 to 4 p.m., and on Tuesday and Thursday, Feb. 7 and 9, from 7 to 8 p.m. English and reading skills questions and test-taking strategies will be addressed. Sessions are $5 each. Juniors should plan on taking the ACT this year, spring tests are April 14 and June 9.
Region Drill Team Competition this Saturday at 12:00 at the Burns Arena. Please come support the Tempest Line Drill Team! Cost is $4 per student.
DHHS Cheer tryouts will be March 5-7th. 3-5pm in the main gym. There will be a very important parent meeting February 27th at 6pm in lecture hall B. The actual tryout will be March 8th at 4pm. 3$ for spectators. Tryouts are for any girl who will be in 10, 11 or 12th grade for the 12-13 school year.
Ladies it's time to start getting your dates for A Night in Hollywood at the Preference Dance on Saturday, February 11! The dance will be held at Stephen Wade Cadillac Saturday, February 11. Pictures are from 7:00-8:30. Dance from 8:00-11:30. Tickets are $20 per couple before, $25 per couple at the door, and $10 singles.
If you are a junior and interested in interviewing for Boys State or Girls State, the sign up sheets are in the Counseling Center. They are looking for boys and girls interested in leadership and government. And would like to represent Desert Hills High. You would get to spend 1 week on the campus of Weber State and meet students from all over the State of Utah. Interviews will be held Feb 1st. Please let Mrs. Whitehead in the Counseling Center know if you are interested.
The Tempest Line Drill Team tryouts will be held Thursday, March 29 at 3:30 in the DHHS Main Gym. Tryout clinics will held Monday, March 26-Wednesday, March 28 from 3:00-5:00 in the DHHS Main Gym. Girls going into 10-12 grades for the 2012/13 school year are eligible to tryout. There will be a mandatory parent meeting for all dancers trying out for the Tempest Line Tuesday, February 28 at 6:00pm in Lecture Hall B. The Tempest Line Review will be held Friday, March 30 at 7:00pm in the DHHS Main Gym. Come see the 2011/12 Tempest Line perform for the final time and meet the new 2012/13 Tempest Line Drill Team!! How about that Kalob Stevenson! Kalob was selected as one of the top 2 wrestlers in 3A to compete for the All-State title at UVU on Monday. Kalob pinned his man in a matter of seconds in the 2nd round! Congratulations Kalob on your All-State win!
